    ******** Troy,
That little episode on 3/20 hasn't been verified by anyone. When questioned directly Lewis won't cop to it. Those congressmen were deliberately taunting the crowd and they were carrying recorders. If they had it they'd use it.

I think somebody probably did call Frank a *****. It doesn't trouble you to label tea partiers with derogatory slurs. Or do you pretend to not know what a tea bagger is? That's how you choose to label your political opponents. Way to keep it classy Troy.

You're naive if you don't think the Gladney incident isn't part of the public perception of the SEIU. When they're called thugs that is the reference point. Two big 200# plus guys putting a little 5'4" black guy in the hospital while calling him ******. It's a damn shame Gladney wasn't a ccw holder. He'd certainly be within his rights to have placed those two SEIU aberations between police chalklines.

In your fair state over 60% of the public sector employees are unionized. Not all of them are members of SEIU 1000 but every one of them is feeding at the public trough of a state that is broke. The California model is broken. It's a monument to liberal ideology.

So something is lame even by my standards and I'm ignorant and disconnected from reality. That is a personal attack on me trying to score points cause you got no game and was totally uncalled for. After you think about it you'll realize you owe me an apology. I won't hold my breathe.

I can just picture Jeff stepping in right about now, that or the folks who underwrite this thread complain of its having been sidetracked from its typical propaganda agenda oil and gas PR campaign and flooding it with the laughable tripe so typical of its many thousands of posts

I think enough honest questions have been ignored and enough bs answers given that a nice fair trial followed by a good old fashioned public hanging is in order for any politician who rears his ugly mug in public these days

they deserve not one dot of respect and I'll be happy to tell em exactly why first chance I get and every chance I get

all these idiots need do is pay for trash removal a few city lights and a road crew or two. Beyond that its all graft and hype developed with the specific intent of bilking more money from more people, well enough is enough. If those shysters want polite they might start by not lying for a living and not stealing money from the public. The had there chance at polite and screwed the public at every opportunity, there is no reason to be polite to a politician and no reason other than the cowardice of the American people that the revolution did not start today, right now this very instant.

course expressing my right to free speech will and probably has labeled me a terrorist when in fact Im probably the most patriotic of the lot. No Im not one of these whack job republican tea partyers and no Im not one of those flaming liberals I dont belong to some bunch of boy scouts with ak47s Im the type that scares the **** out of the gov. cause Im one of the millions of americans from all walks who will eventually join together and throw these fucks out of orifice

Ive gotten in a few of there faces and you should just see the fear they have of the public, and rightly so cause there is a growing population within that public that has had enough
they keep this up and its going to look like the French revolution all over again
Im definitely not alone when I say off with there heads

frankly I dont give a rats *** about some small potato's union pukes or whining republicans waving signs at one another. but give me a chance to speak in public with a politician handy and stand back cause you would be surprised how many people feel exactly as I do when I start talking revolution by whatever means necessary

the shysters and sellouts have got to be removed
    all of them

    love B

Most of the people you are calling tea baggers don't even know what it means.

He who smelt it dealt it.

I've been saying for years that once I'm out of aerospace and don't need to get tested anymore I'm going to do some serious weed again. Me and 3 or 4 of my NASA inspector buddies, too. ;) So no hating on the weed smokers, please. Those who lean too far to the right on this should Google "LaGuardia Report"

I thought it interesting that the book was written as a comunist manifesto and ended up kicking off the FDA and a whole host of labor laws

long before the unions came into power

This is exactly why you should stay away from the politics, Troy and just address the merit, or lack thereof, of the scientific assertions at hand.

We have already had a go at parading out the absolutely wacky left field things that the supporters of AGW have said, such as wanting to reduce the earth's human population by 90%, wanting to destroy the western industrial economies, that humans are a cancer to the earth and on and on. You may like to deny that these things were said, or try to insist they must have been said only by far out, unimportant fringe elements, but that is not true. These thing were said by the leaders of the AGW alarmists, including UN leaders.

The "In Their Own Words" one page site is now much expanded, if you care to read them all, and there are HUNDREDS to read.

Yeah and all from ONE PAGE in the entire book! That's when people learned how sausage was made.

actually there were several things that being one of them

the military at the time was buying canned hams and the meat packing industry was packaging the stuff in embalming fluid
the stuff still rotted but when the military found out that that yummy sauce was actually embalming fluid they kinda had a bad reaction
that and the bone in hams were rotting anyway and when sent back they discovered the packing industry was simply stamping out the rotted bone and freshening the embalming fluid then repacking the hams as boneless and selling them off again

lots of stuff got old Theodore pissed off including the bits about sweeping guts rats and shoe goo into the floor drains to be ground and spiced as sausage

that and the life span of a worker working in the rendering pits was something like less than six months

it was after all not an era in which bathing had really caught on yet

its a miracle humans have survived the industrial food producers

    B

    ps
Jim you are focusing on a few radical statements by a rare few people in a dam large group
Im certain you can find similar statements among the corporate oligarchy and the oil and gas pr people
simple reality is that the science is overwhelming and in such a large and diverse group your always going to get a few bad apples

I for one do believe that a 90% reduction is a tad extreme but maybe 50% might be more like it
Im not suggesting we kill off half the population although we could certainly make some progress starting with the politicians
what is needed is a rational universal birth control program that enables people to control there own reproductive systems
where birth control is available in the developed countries it is remarkably effective
thing is you hand an African or a Chinese peasant a condom and he blows it up and hands it off to his kid wondering why you are handing out balloons for a living

Im not sure who mentioned ruining western economies but obviously the majority of scientists do not believe that

    cheers

I think it's a bit of an exaggeration to say they were packing the hams in embalming fluid; that would just kill everyone that ate them right off the bat. But what was happening was only a bit better. You see the hams would sit around too long with little or no refrigeration (no CFC's, yet :D) and they would begin to rot. They did not want to lose all that product, so the packing house managers got the bright idea to 'wash off the rot' on these hams with embalming fluid, then continue canning them. Sometimes they used glycerin and sometimes lye soap; IOW, whatever was handy.

The 'one page' I was referring to was the one page description of how the finished sausages were just thrown on the floor where workers tramped all day and spat their chaw juice (yum!), and those were washed off with glycerin than canned and shipped out.

But nobody cared much about the poor workers that lost fingers, hands and sometimes more to the machinery. What the public got into an uproar about WRT "The Jungle" was the idea of eating such filth, and even the occasional piece of human flesh. Very ironic.

The book is said to be based (mostly) on reports from the "Swift" packing house of Chicago, BTW.

Food procurement was a horror show back in the old days. The stores on voyaging boats was one long adventure of disgust. Curiously whalers seemed to eat pretty well compared to the rest.

actually once the law was made forbidding the practice the industry went on to use the components of embalming fluid for a long time until cheaper substitutes could be found

and yes they also washed off the rot with the stuff
at the time it was the only preservative other than salt vinegar alcohol or lime juice available and those were way to expensive

you are also right on about most people who did not give a dam about the workers and were primarily concerned about the product as lots of people died of food poisoning in those days

canning had previously been accomplished through heat purification and at that only with vegetables
meat presented a whole other set of issues and some of the solutions were downright evil to say the least
did take em a while to figure out they could not use lead solder on the cans though
    can anyone say Franklin expedition

I think we are on basically the same page on this one Jim but we're just so used to bickering that it just comes naturally at this point

I also think I have a few folks just waiting to hear I've been dragged off and slammed in a cell for actually daring to say what a lot of folks are thinking

revolution now and through whatever level of force those shyster politicians demand before they can be locked up and placed on trial there estates confiscated businesses bank accounts investments and anything else they have squirreled away

no time like the present for the revolution that should have happened a long time ago

I cant remember what they did with the squished fish at the bottom of the holds but I seem to recall they made all sorts of things out of it

    fish paste (obviously)
    fish cakes
    fish sauce
    fish oil
    pickled fish
    fish squeezings
    anything but throw it out
they had salting fish down to an art back then although the **** tastes terrible

one can only imagine the number of folks who succumbed to things like botulism

The Asians consider various 'fermented' fish products to be delicacies to this day. Rot can be OK for food if managed properly, I guess. The number of foods that we eat every day that are basically the product of 'controlled rot' is pretty amazing, from yogurt to cheese to pickles to breads and a whole bunch more.

    Ludevisk, anyone:p

Ironically, again that botulism is one of the bumps on the road to modern sanitary canning, since it lives anaerobically and remains undetectable by the usual means of noting the 'bloat' of a spoiled can/jar. That's exactly why it's so dangerous. That and the whole paralysis thing.
