Vetus ftl connection/pickup. And gasket material

    Has anyone had any experience with these. My tanks fill, and breather are currently bronze or brass fittings going into tank and they are leaking, however there is no inspection plate nearby, and It looks like presume there is some form of nut on the back of the fittings.

    Also for gasoline/petrol tanks, what gasket should I use? Nitrile rubber failed for me before (standing water on tank top I believe). My standby tank has cork looking gaskets, and they are holding up great.

    cork gaskets or combination cork/rubber gaskets do not meet ABYC standards. Over time the cork will fail and you will have leaks. With gasoline, a time bomb

    Thanks for reply Barry. I’ve read some abyc standards and I can’t see what gasket material they define. Searches on here suggest nitrile rubber, and permatec compound. Not sure why I had a nitrile issue before. It went all soft and floppy.

    Additional question. I can’t find any new or replacement filler hose to tank fittings. I think I’d rather make a new inspection plate out of stainless and fit my own 1.5” filler, 3/4 breather and pickup tubes. I have pickup in stainless, and sender. But google is failing to locate a fitting for the fuel in and breather to top of tank. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

    24.9.5.2 Cork gaskets shall not be used

    I mentioned the cork rubber combination as these exist in the market for aftermarket senders.
