Now in the trade news for the leaders, time for pure speed /champagne sailing , a priori for foilers to make a definitive difference, if at 100% of their capacity : Bureau Vallée and Seaexplorer seem in this case, uncertainties for Apivia and Linkedout on this long starboard tack due to the weakness/shortness of their port foil. Occitane also in the root of the south trade winds, can come back on some non foilers.

The leaders, always grouped within a few dozen of nautic miles, are or were dealing with the Doldrums hazards, some very slow during the last 4 hours and/or hesitating on their positioning. Next, 3-4 days of speed in the North trade winds, the suspens remains total :

I checked this morning's update and while it remains close among the first ten boats I was surprised to see that Miranda Merron was facing backwards and sailing very slowly. No news of any mishap and lets hope nothing is occurring that will add to the list of retirements.

Its looking likely that Apivia will be the first boat to reach the finish. My feeling is that the allowance Borris Hermann has available might just tip the result his way and if the wind picks up,Yannick Bestaven is still in the picture. What a race!
