An 2:1 ellipse will do, 3:1 if you're going fast.

Oops. I already had the templates drawn and cut for a 3:1 ellipse. And being a lazy *******, it was easier for me to do more work than required than to back up and redo the templates. By 3:1, you really meant a 6:1 half ellipse, right? I have a 6" long elliptical transition from a 2" diameter hole.

The photos show the progress so far. You will also notice that there is a time constraint on this project. The ice hasn't come off the lake, but the water level is fast approaching its spring high. We are off to Winnipeg to watch the Jets beat the Predators. We'll be back in a couple of weeks.

    Have fun.
