I would like to see the picture, I'll check the previous posts. Come on guys, phil deserve some points for this experience.

Well it's one thing when you're with your stuff, and another if you were swimming on the boat trying to ditch lightning strikes, then get "home" to find a river came through camp...

That is why you want a boat you put the stuff in and live in/on it. LOL, what's the worst that can happen :p

    Hoyte my friend,

Now that you are ready to go on to the next boat, don't think SINGLE minded like a man... :D

A cat is a very nice rig to have, lighter, bigger and really a lot more comfy than a small single.

If you are open to listen I could give you a few ideas on a folding cat, still easy to handle but steady and easy to fold. You can still use a single motor on two hulls.

I went from a small cathedral hull with a 28 to a 40 and ended up with a an 85 on it which was a brilliant combination.
Then I decided on a bigger boat with 2 motors, 60's of which I ditched one overboard out of anger because it would never run :D Finally ended up with a bigger boat and a 115, which went ok - but it sailed really bad :D

Now I just want a nice motorized sailboat I can park on and stay out there if I want, instead of burning back and fourth all the time wasting fuel and time. LOL, the idea is to get out of the (rat) race, not in it.

Besides, man is a clever being, nowadays you get winches and all kinds of fancy stuff, so you don't have to be stronger than the boat is big ;) And for all the heavy stuff there is the wife... Well that is because men get lower back problems lifting heavy things.

Having had both types, my needs are more directly met by a mono-hull. Some of the places I go are not suited to a cat.

I still want to have my way with the old boat ... You did a great job building it ... I just want to try to wring out it's full potential before you demolish it !!!

I have a 9.9 2 Smoke with a Hydrofoil and a half dozen props and I'm NOT afraid to use them !!! LOL

At our age we go back to training wheels again :D

We just call it multihulls to hide our embarrassment

Actually I think "training wheels" in boating was coined from Tri's more so than Cats. I first heard it from Sandy Weld owner/ captain of Windigo in reference to ribbing his cousin Phil on Moxi. Got the greatest kick when I first heard it.

I'll go with that Viking, a cat though is a lot like a walking ring, it gives you something to hang on to while it has supports far left and right from you so you don't fall over, or out.

I actually saw an old lady doing her shopping in such a ring. The only thing missing on it was the fishing rod holder and the gun stand to hunt from. Oh yes and the instructions tab up front in case you forget to set the fishing reel's drag and the fish plucks you in, and then on the hunting side the max caliber so it won't flip you over backwards when the shot goes.

Imagine that bent wiry old finger gets stuck on the auto's trigger going TRRRRRRRRRR and the ring starts rotating under the recoil... you'll see people running like hell in all directions ! Kinda like when the rudder on a cat gets stuck on that same finger at full turn and surfers, boaters and everyone else try to get out of that circle of death LOL.

Young people may be reckless, but old people are dangerous :D
