I have a 13' pontoon boat that is presently a tiller steer 15hp. Since I have limited deck space I've been thinking about installing a "stick steer" system so I don't lose space with a helmsted & steering wheel. Has anyone done this before and/or any comments/opinions? Boat is only for lake fishing and cruising but I'm tired of tiller steering.

Within reason you could put any type of steering on it. The main obstacle to overcome is the throttle control, as you will need to be able to operate it from an external means.

My plan is to mount the stick steering at the right side rear seat so I can still operate the throttle with my left hand via the extended tiller and steer with my right hand. So my idea isn't too crazy then?

Now, how do I put this politely?

Nah, I need some more thought.

I don't understand your questions. Remote controls and steering are pretty easy things to install. What are your concerns? There will be some fabrication involved with many 15 HP outboards, but this is normal.
