This Volvo Md 7 tranny is the early style input that has 3 ears that engage a rubber biscuit that engages 3 ears on the engine output flange.

About 2-1 reduction. Easily adapted to any engine.
Volvo still sells the coupling biscuit.

Fwd, Neutral, Reverse , cable operated.

In excellent condition it has been stored for close to 25 years.

Could be used by a conversion, Kubota, Wisconson , whatever.

    18 Hp Diesel maximum.
$400. located in SW Florida near Ft Myers.

From your description it sounds like a set up similar to a flex plate coupling on an automobile. I have a MD7A 2 cyl. Volvo diesel that requires an MS2 transmission. Is there any part number attached to the tranny housing --Tnx. Geo.

There is no bolted connection as a flex plate would use.

The output of the engine is a flat plate with 3 "ears , at 120deg spacing.

The tranny is identical , flat plate with ears also 120deg.

The coupling between the engine and tranny is a simple disc of thick rubber with 6 slits that accept the vears.

I will look for a tag , and can send a photo if that would help.

Here is a link to a similar tranny

If your drive plate is in good condition it could perhaps be reinsatalled
