sen-dure inline strainer basket

I have this bronze strainer, 1.25 inch 29S model and it is missing the strainer mesh bucket basket.

I was thinking of making a strainer to fit inside. I have a nice piece of polyethylene grid which is heavy duty made for craft uses. I can cut it and copper wire stitch tie into a cylinder, cut the end at an angle and slip it inside.

I would like to know the dimensions of the original basket.
It has been a while since I opened it up and so I cant remember what it is like inside.
Does anyone have familiarity with these?

On my boat, this strainer is attached to the thru hull.

What I have which I think would work well is this.
Plastic will not corrode and it is very strong.

strainer I made which will fit measures 6 3/16 long by 1 1/8 wide
The strainer needs interior inside clearance from the bronze wall.
Strainer should be mounted so the cleanout points down, or under the hose threaded connections. That will let gravity pull debris down into the screen.



This plastic will roll but if you overstress it, will crack.
After I made these I used a heat gun to relax into the pure rounded shape from a teardrop like shape. Small copper wire is used to stitch together.

If doing again I would roll on a wooden broom handle and heat relax the plastic first using a hot air gun. You can use the broom handle to help crush down the copper stitching, (insert broom handle and roll crush on smooth flat surface)
