Rudder Bearings for Frans Maas Standfast 33

Hey Folks,
I am not sure if this is the right forum, but I couldn't really find a forum that was suitable for this inquiry, so please forgive me if it should be placed somewhere else.

I am going to be hauling out my boat in the next couple months and I have been trying to source some of the inventory I will need to get everything I want done with a single quick haulout (maybe a day or two if I can manage it).

Anyway, one of the items I have been having difficulty with is sourcing the Rudder Bearings for my boat. I'd like to have them sourced before I haulout.

Standfast Yachts went out of business 9 years ago, and I cannot seem to find anyone who might have the specs for my rudder bearings. I did try Jefa, but they don't have an already identified set of parts for my boat. I am assuming (or hoping) they have a stock set of rudder bearings that will work, but again, I don't know the specs for my bearings.

Does anyone here have a resource for finding which bearings go on my boat?

The boat is in the water, so no I can't post pictures.

The site you posted sells stuffing boxes, not bearings...bearings look more like this:

Take a look at the second and third set of photos.

It's not so much that I can't find a place to buy them, its more than I don't know what rudder bearings to buy and I want to source them before I haul out.

 

This is an older design, so I'll assume the rudder stock runs through a port (spade style) and possibly an upper bearing to pick up torsional loading. It would be unlikely an application specific unit was devised, meaning the shaft would be a standard size, so bearings and ports would be available. The port and bearing supports may be unique, but any reasonable fabricator should be able to handle this, with some pictures and measurements.

Additionally, the way boats were built in the 70's, she might have just a 'glass tube as the port (skeg hung), with appropriately sized bearings and again, it seems reasonable the shaft would be a standard size, so just a matter of fitting a new set.

 

Right so I guess I am stuck hauling out and staying on the hard for a week or two?

Sigh...
