removable windscreen on 5m half cabin

Hi Guys i am after some ideas and guidance on how to reduce the clearance of my boat so it can slide under my carport and i can work on it out of the weather?

my original plan is to ether hinge the windscreen or maybe change the bolts to quick release. i did a quick search of the forums and couldn't really find much has anyone attempted this. has anyone got any good advice or tips as this is my first boat and im new to all this?

I would recommend you get rid of the existing and switch it to a folding frame or a set of posts and a frame that picks up off the posts. Both would use eisenglass.

The pin n post might look nicer, but the folding frame would be much easier and more affordable.

I have had a look around the net and cant find any thing on a "folding frame" could they possibly go by a different name or do you happen to have a pic?

 

Bimini frame or bimini top or eisenglas windscreen.

 

If you call a boat canvas maker they can build one for you. Just make sure they do eisenglass or clear work. And make sure the windscreen folds down flat so it doesn't get wrinkled. And you can probably put sideglass in it as well.

 

Batten; You have a hard plexiglass windscreen. Fall guy is suggesting that you replace the hard one with a flexible one that is part of a folding top of ...Probably Sunbrella fabric and soft clear plastic window. The result can be, if you wish to have it, a top that extends a short distance over the top of the helmsmans position. A similar arrangement, but on a smaller scale, is called a "hatch dodger". In either case they will fold flat.
