I'm planning on ordering a shipment of Plascore (PP honeycomb) for a boat project. I live in Utah and will have it shipped to a local freight warehouse for pickup in Salt Lake City. Shipping is actually pretty reasonable considering the quantity I'm buying. I thought someone might happen to be in Utah and want some and we could work out a way to get it all shipped as a single load.

My suggestion would be splitting based on quantity. If you only need 1 or 5 sheets, this would make shipping very cheap compared to what you'd pay to have 1 or 2 shipped separately. At the quantity I'm buying shipping is around $5 per sheet, which is a good deal I think. If you wanted a single sheet or two, I think you'd be looking at $50-100 per sheet in freight costs.

I don't know anything about Plascore other than what I've read, this is my first boat and my first plascore project. I understand that it is really popular for drift boat bottom panels and other marine uses.

I'll be ordering soon either way, but I think it will probably be a week or 10 days before it ships, so if you want to join in the shipment contact me soon.

    Thanks,

Also: I have no affiliation with Plascore. Just like the idea that it was an American made product and they offer it in a 4x8 sheet where nidacore is 4x7. When you're needing a lot of 19' patterns, 2.5 sheets of 4x8 makes for less waste than having to use 3 4x7 sheets for every pattern set.

You are paying $5 per 4x8 sheet??

What thickness and "density" are you buying?

At that price, this stuff would be much cheaper than the XPS for doing interiors.

$5/sheet is for the shipping. - The main reason I started this thread was that I had read in a couple drift boat forums that people out west where drift boats are popular are using for the bottom of the hull. They only need 2 or 3 sheets usually and then a $30 sheet becomes a $80 dollar sheet really quick. Shipping a lot of it doesn't cost much more than shipping a little bit - so I thought I'd offer if anyone around wants to get in on a group shipment.

Prices per sheet vary depending on what you want. There are a couple cell sizes and the larger cell sizes have lower density. Then you can get with a veil for resin or with a veil and a non-porous film inside the veil for infusion type construction so you can get a minimal resin use. Then there are a bunch of thicknesses available.

Anyway, for non-film, 8mm cell size (smaller), with veil, prices are around $30/sheet for 10mm thickness.

It's manufactured in Michigan, so it may be pretty close to you in the northeast.
