The 60 % is to JUST prevent sinking.

Not anything else. All the people would NEED to be tied into the boat so they do not become fish food.
All those odd noises from the submerged boat clunking, may bring the fishies to check out the sounds.

All the foam flotation in my 16' is under the seats. The engine area does have 2 large Aluminum compartments filled with foam. They are each about 12" x 24" X full hull depth.
If flooded. The OB motor would be flooded. I carry a Cell Phone in a freezer bag in my pocket for the day I need it. I am inland.

The sea claims many lives each year. Only a couple are published. Buy the bigger & safer off shore boat.
I want to hear you do not have the boat anymore. Because you sold it.

Cheers Cyclops. There really is no fun in buying a ready boat. I may seem as though I am rambling however I am trying to sort things in my mind before I decide on a boat.

If you are bound to have twin motors by law, a cat seems attractive. Though I am not keen on them below 5 metres. 18 feet and up leave vee hulls in the shade.
