Presently, I'm stilll looking for information on who conceived of Westlawn in 1930's. Interesting that a former alumni student of Westlawn, Ted Brewer, would go along and start his own correspondence school, YDI, only to be reintergrated back into Westlawn.

What brief information I can find on YDI is on Westlawn's web site under Ted Brewer's brief biography along with his partner, Bob Wallstroms.http://www.westlawn.edu/who/faculty.asp

and on Westlawn's chief competitor YDS founder's bio http://www.macnaughtongroup.com/tom.htm

Personally, I'm surprised more accomplished yacht designers havn't gone on to start their own yacht design correspondence schools.

What I would give right now to be able to compare and constrast the course materials from these three schools from their past. I'm sure it would answer a lot of other unanswered questions for me as to what really was going on there.
