    Any port in a storm?
    :)

Some things I have given up hope on..

Next on the list are the cushions in the cabin and $500 bucks into vac panels for the fridge- I am using the nice Frigoboat gear with the keel cooler.

Have one modest Kyrocera 60w solar panel & will augment that plus one of the small wind gen sets on the mizzen.
I installed a decent 2kw inverter which is lots of fun to have ac on demand for when I need to drill a proper hole through the bottom while trying to run cables :!:

I am a one man economic stimulus package with all the $ I throw around..

Things coming together & the boat looks nice and sails like a dream.

Looking to a run up the coast to Buzzards bay/Nantucket Island area for the summer cruise.

I forget M- are the materials for your build on site.. are you a'building now?

I got in at 855.1 sds so Im content to watch it drop like a rock

feeling like I should get out if it keeps hovering were it is for to long
for some reason my indicators are not working so Im kinda working blind
but I did well so far blind eh

I gotta leave for a few hours in a few minutes anyway so Ill have to sell before I go but still was a nice full point gain

    oh
I dont see it as having dropped through the support at least not on the S&P
if it goes much lower it will be in some territory not seen since the 1st or 2nd of the month
but its not as far as I can see a catastrophic moment in the graph
if I werent leaving the house Ild be inclined to expect it to bounce off the support and come back up a half a point
    oh well

cant figure out what happened to the indicators
been trying to get em up and running but no go

the market was actually trading lower that it is now not longer than a few days ago but if you follow the trend for it to go much lower than it is now would be a deviation from the trend
    I think it will bounce
but thats having no indicators to work with so its pretty much a guess
    best

    gotta go

    just got out at 842.9
    nice start to my day

    ok did not bounce
    kinda tanked all day
    but
still isnt so far from standard deviation that it lies outside of the norm
you guys keep talking about a catastrophic downturn
which might happen dont get me wrong
if tomorrow is a mirror image of today then I could see it turning into another decent to 650.0 area
    maybe
but I think chances are better that it will bounce just about from were it is now
of course I was wrong about that earlier today so who knows
I still cant get my indicators to come up

A story as a metaphore may make learning of new things easier....

American peons... Cast off your shackles and wake up, - - the only pirates you have to worry about are those said to infest that metaphorical address "Wall St" - stop doing lines, smoking dope and soothing your mind with opiates of the mind-controllers of big media, - - don't you know what a "motherhood statement" is? - - don't you know the levels of debt your children and their children will have to repay to the money-controllers who are engorging themselves on the pretext of saving you all from hardship now - - - - - - - Your grandchildren yet to come, will curse your negligence and apathetic blindness.... Refrain from blasting me with your self righteous indignation, and have a look around and see if there is any merit in the ravings of this lunatic....

Wow, that was inspirational for me.... I just hope it was worthwhile.... for some...

Mas- look up the text of Geithner speech from today.
I believe you will find it of interest.

    Geithner today:

"We are not all in the same boat but we are all in the same storm"
"There is a typical path followed towards recovery- this will be no different"
"The world economies need to become more balanced and less dependent on the US consumer"
"This is deeper than a normal business cycle... only ended by extraordinary policy response"

    Nazi's? Bit dark eh??

History repeats and we don't learn - - just make bigger fuckups than the last one... - bntii, have you got a link for Geithner's efforts on the date in question?

Sorry Boston - I am sure it is deliberate and choreographed manipulation STILL. They see some other poor sod (plural) with assets that they can rip off....

Single Woman Skipper Planning Liveaboard and cruising life.

The state of the world, the economy and the health of the oceans convince me, I better get going cruising sooner than later. Lifelong sailor, now over 50 and having cruised throughout New England and Bahamas, I plan to set off either this fall or next spring as soon as I find a boat - 28 to 30 feet (fractional rig with tiller ideally).
I don't plan to cross any oceans alone but hop from island to island and offshore coastal cruising. I'm wondering how it's going to be cruising, beginning in Bahamas and then south throughout the Caribean and who knows where next, as a woman skipper alone and over 50.
I'm resourceful, enjoy fishing, good at basic maintenance but not a mechanic or good at trouble shooting, which is why I'm planning on living aboard simply, with as few complicated systems, to break, as possible.
RE $$$, seems like the biggest costs will be repair unless I can barter home cooked meals. (Retired chef and baker.)
What is that other boaters miss, that I could store and then use for barter ?
What items are difficult for locals in tropics to obtain ?
It also seems fees to enter countries are increasing as well as anchoring fees.

Most I plan on spending is $ 500. month. or less would be wonderful. I plan on having 28 to 30 footer monohull.

ps. I would love to spend some time around Cuba and hope that opens up to US cruisers soon, or that I can learn how to cruise there anyway.
