What is the metal for? Why add metal to a boat that is all glass?

Yah, Metal is not a good material to bond inside a sandwich of glass.

Best put your thinking cap on and devise a solution to create the shape that is easier to bond or that forms a mold and can be removed when the inside is laminated .

The metal will be used to lay up on . I will wax it and when cured remove the underside metal . I will then add a layer of glass to the bottom side.

The boat has a lot of radius curves . Today I grinded the inside middle 12'' on each side of where I will be making the cut. Trying to see if I tape then foam the bottom if I can remove the tape/foam nicely and have a perfect line to transfer to wood. I will then fab the metal to sit in the wood and put into position.

My son cleaning the hull from sanding.

24'' grinded . I will be cutting at the 12'' mark across .

Oh, metal used as a mold. That will work.

Sheet pvc also works. It bends and shapes easy with a heat gun.

Thank you . I also have screws through the hull for added stiffness. She didn't move at all after the cut and very stiff .

Glassed 3 layer on the bottom and one all the way up the side . Saying a prayer now. Saturday or Monday I will pull the mold and check the end results.

It looks pretty good. You gave it a little extra thickness to compensate for the additional stress brought on by lengthening I hope.

Yes I did. Plus I will have 2 2x4 stringers added and I will be adding a full layer on the whole bottom .
