I am considering building a small strip plank boat as discussed briefly here
I will likely use Gerr's "Elements of Boat Strength" to calculate the scantlings.
The bulkheads will most likely be ply and as it is quite small, I was thinking of using the same for the ring frames - basically just a bulkhead with the middle cut out.
But the only reference I can find to using ply for the ring frames is towards the end of p.155, where Gerr says that "wherever the bulkhead can be located close to the calulated strip plank frame spacing - and where the bulkhead is essentially an unbroken ring (molded at least 6.75 times its thickness at the deepest cutout) - a separate frame is not required".

Am I correct in interpereting this to mean that, for instance if I have 10mm thick plywood "bulkheads" then I can cut out the centre, leaving 67.5mm as a ring frame?

That is how I interpreted the statement and I believe you are correct.
