    Hi all,

I'm doing my first boat design in SolidWorks so the builder can get the flat patterns for a water jet cut. I've been using SolidWorks for years but never done a lot of surfaces. I have no big problems with the inside features but where I'm having fun is the hull it self. Does anyone have a SolidWorks model that they want to share just so I can pick apart how it was done. I've got the design well along but not sure the methods were the best options available.

    Thanks - the boat newbie

I'm a SolidWorks novice, but word is SW is weak for

things like hull shapes. I'm working on a dismountable, trailerable, containable cat that might be able to use the trailer as a a-frame mast.

I'm using SW for all the moving parts and deck, but I'm not even trying to use SW for final hull shape below the waterline.

SW probably is the best for 'inside features' as you don't need Pro-E.

    More SW comments

I'm finding that without a "good" hull the inside features get harder to complete. I want to cut to surfaces of the inside hull and if the surfaces are not 100% closed I'm having trouble. Now I have a closed hull as it will be made but it took a while to get there. The fun is going to be breaking each panel out for the water jet.
