Can someone please explain to me why three different shape of boats creater different displacement value which is also known as waterline value ? I am doing a comparison between three different bottom shapes of boats at the same draft value at 7.3m. The three different bottom shapes are shallow vee bottom, flat bottom design and soft chine flat bottom design. However, through simulation, it is found that at the same draft value, the shallow vee design has the biggest waterline value at -270+mm, the soft chine is at -130.05mm and the flat bottom is at -103.62mm. Does the displacement value creates any effect on the stability of the boat. Thank You so much.
