Yes of course - because the lifepo4 chemistry is similar to the limno4 chemistry of the tesla. Its all the rage for electric vehicles due to energt density and safety.

Lithium polymer is considerably higher energy density again but its too unstable , unsafe, and has shorter # cycle lifespan... these are the battery type used in drones etc...

 

Maybe I can hire you to do my electric system. I will need to be CE compliant though. I know that comes from a third party but I need to address whatever the regs are.

What would be cool is if they would fit in boxes under the sole to keep my weight down lower and free up that space!!

I would need all kinds of electric reporting too, how much I am charging, how much I am using, all the bling!!

Put your virtual eyeball at standing height inside under the roof and look port and stbd. I don't think you want a bunker effect so this one is probably too low.
As the roof/ceiling is dropped and/or the bottom bulkheads are raised the main cabin become more cave like and the window height is emphasized.
EDIT. The roof is going to get hot in the sun and its underside will reradiate the heat, so you need a decent air gap over people's heads.

 

Yeah I agree on the roof being too low, I have seen that on GB4 but not for me. And I have ridden in the commercial charter snorkel boats which were so hot I was nauseas!! I am playing with what would be the perfect height now.

 

OK, I see that there are proper safety features. 2C is not pushing them too hard. We routinely cycle batteries at 5C with no problem.

 

I modified the extreme roof by making lessening the difference between the upper and lower planes. The red vertical line is 6.5 feet tall. It's short by 1.5 inch of the top because I know the deck is going to be at least that thickness, stiffeners will be under as required.

The bulkheads rise full height to support the roof, I don't think they ALL need to poke through but Im just showing it. Now the window openings along the sides are about 14 inches high and the base of winches is 10.7 feet above waterline.

 

Having a hard time with the roof. I get close and then when I try to connect the final dots, something doesn't work!!

This is a mod from the racing version I drew earlier. I moved the galley and turned the forward part of BD into two more cabins. The foot of the beds can align with the lowest part of the roof, seems to work so far. The galley below has pros and cons, the con, need lots of ventilation now, the pro, the appliances are better protected from weather and theft.

Not sure it's going to work but here is what it looks like so far.

 

Whaaat no comments on the monster above?? Ok well take a look at this baby! Her name is Lambo !!!!! and she has the same layout inside with full headroom. I had to drop bridgedeck to 44" clearance. I think I nailed this one, just need to figure out the windows.

 

PS the roof won't extend that far back, I am still drawing in the davits possible elevated back helm and have to see how many solar panels will fit before I trim

 

Guess where the helms will be, CW designs were my fav just for that. There is lot's of storage under the front helm. This design looks pretty fast not that I want to go fast but I want to have the choice

 

You essentially have the grainger flying fish 60 with unstayed bi plane rig and solar panels on the roof. Why not just email Grainger and get the ball rolling?

 

I can't find the FF60 anymore, maybe he couldn't get anyone interested. Anyway he doesn't want to talk until I have cash in hand, same with Schionning, and CW all of which have similar designs. For the time being I do this because I keep learning more and more and it helps me to stay sane.

... This is the best design I have posted so far from the perspective of less windage but it's not going to be anywhere as easy to build, I don't think...

Edit, I was able to lower the roof about another 4 inches, I had to move everything aft a bit to do it. Pretty good cockpit up front, will have to have some major drains straight through the bridgedeck just in case. It shrunk the heck out of the galley, ok for me but my Italian friends will never let me hear the end of it, have to see if I can continue the other side.

 

28 Solar panels, didn't want them on the coach roof. The davit platform should take about 6 more. Roof does not extend beyond BD. ... Edit, I could fit 7 so 35 in total. That is less than I was hoping for but the drives are what eats up power and Im not supposed to be using those much ))
