    That is very kewl. Thanks.

How about one with no foresail boom? Sloop, perhaps?

I was thinking of unstayed bendy mast with foresale...

Yes, Doug, saw that thread, and thanks, but the one boat is stayed...the mast. I was thinking more like a Finn rig with a very small foresail, maybe extended on spar. I looked about and found nada, but that also means nada, with all the boats about. It could be any config too, cat, proa, sloop keel, dagger, centerbd, whatever. Seems not a practical idea.

You will see more designs in the dinghy range than in the larger sailboat range, but there are a few. For older designs, there are the Sea Pearl 21 and 28 cat ketches. Nonsuch made a 22' cat. Wylie Cat has a 17'er and a 30'er, both cats. As for a newer modern concept, sloop rig with a jib, there is the Scandinavian Cruiser 20 (sloop) and the Scandinavian Dory 18 (cat) which you can see here: http://www.scandinaviancruisers.com/

Eric. Thanks for reply and your time. Save the Sea Pearl, with its foresail, the Wylie and Nonesuch were cats, with wishbone booms. I was thinking more like a unstayed sloop, with very small jib sail. The mast rake would alter tension...I must also now defer to your comments about the jib tack changing...like that one. Thanks.

There was an entire line of Freedoms designed by Gary Mull, Dave Pedrick, and Bill Langan with small jibs, big full batten mains, and I think running backstays......
