Anyone here ever mount a electric trolling motor in a kayak

    Pontoon outrigger transom?

    If you have a motor, I assume that you would not want to roll your Kayak. I have seen small pontoons that strap on to kayaks so a sail can be mounted, so a outrigger that carries the motor and battery would work. If you make one of the outrigger supports the size that the trolling motor wants for a transom, in easy reach from your normal sitting position to use it for steering, it would be easy to use as well. I know that this is an old thread, but as I am reading all the old threads for answers to my questions, I assume others do too.

    I built a wooden cover that fit into/over the aft hatch. It has a cutout for a battery and an arm that reached out over the side for the motor mount. Works great, the shaft is long enough so I don't need to worry about the prop hitting the boat. It's a bit awkward to steer and tip up when I get to the beach, but it really is fast!
