89 mariner 25 no spark

Hi boat lovers. I bought a fishing boat with above motor. Previous owner claimed no spark. He replaced coils still no spark.upon inspecting wires there is a yellow wire with red stripe with a ring connector on end that isnt connected to anything. The previous owner must have not put it back or forgot to connect it back.I bought owners manual but it dosent say what wire it is.Can any of you geniuses help. Thanks in advance. p.s. I took a couple of pics of wires.

that is very similiar. I dont see any yellow wires mine has electric start maybe it is for that

I couldn't find a Red/w or a Pink wire on my motor.
I guess we'll need an 89 Mariner book.

thankx thud. Ill ck out the site. The wire might not be for cdi ign its just a loose wire that needs to go somewhere. thanks for your help

Marineengine.com site I signed up and asked question on there , guy says its 4 starter solenoid but there is all ready a wire on there. I quess I will have to test those wires while I try to crank over motor. I just dont want to fry anything. Will keep u all posted

 

A manual will reveal all. You shouldn't be fooling around with the wires without a diagram. One for your motor will be less the $30.

 

Small signal devices.
The Circuits inside the Coil packs are small Chips (Similar) which run on very small voltages.
One "ZAP" from the wrong input can destroy a circuit.
The Static Electricity from moving your arm and touching the Input can destroy the Chips inside.

Somewhere you'll find a book with a schematic. Maybe the Previous Owner?

thanks Par I bought a manual but it didnt show me what I needed. Im trying to be careful so I dont burn anything up Thats why I started this thread.I appreciate your time and I will keep trying

 

Manual didn't show what you needed?
No Schemetic of the Terminal connectors on the packs?
Did the manual cover wire Colors?

 

If you bought the manual I listed, it includes a color coded wiring diagram.

thud , I,m leaning towards starter circuit there is a brown wire ( small ) allready there the loose 1 is yellow with red stripe. Par the book I got is Seloc I was told it was good.the color code for start circuit shows a yellow from ign swtch to interlock then yellow to solenoid. I will test light both wires monday to see which 1 gives me power when I turn crank. Is the interlock so it doesnt crank in gear ? Thanks guys

 

I dont have Electric start. I have a Kill Switch in the Tiller though. Have you found that one?
