colinhilton: PANELPLANE

A development project to combine a hydroplaning watercraft with a keel, wings and foreplane(s) for flight above the surface of water in "ground-effect". The scale prototype is constructed of a ply T-section embedded in a model fibreglass hull and supporting wooden laths that meet at a hub at 45 degrees or a half of that in the case of the keel-ski. The mass of the forward section is counterbalanced by an aero-engine whose propeller lies beneath the waterline at rest. The propeller is used at low speed to power the craft onto the plane when it is used conventionally. Development appears at www.panelplane.com site.
