Has anyone seen or heard any more of the "winged" powerboat? Any feedback appreciated.

The Russians have played with these since the 50's.

Actually only an advantage for large sized very heavy cargo freighter.

Today the newest 747 can deliver tons of cargo at 5X the speed with the same fuel burn.

Interesting but useless, an ulrtralight requires no license and can go higher than 1/2 the wingspan of the surface effect "boats".

I love it: "interesting but useless". I call it Swedish design... Just how much design can you put something that is already tried and tested and works (boats, cup, knife spoon!!) before it becomes utterly (excuse my french I grew up on a yard) F%%$'g useless!!!

Or do you mean the race powerboats using wings for aerodynamic lift and stability?

First aware of these boats many years ago in circuit racing.

More recently well known in the offshore world - mainly outboard classes. We also designed such a craft which has been very successful over the last 8 years or so.

Is this a winged power boat? Using Flapping wing Propeller.

this was our own version of the 'batboat theme'. Works a bit differently from the Mannerfelt boats and whilst not quiet so quick in the flat calm whe is a much better rough weather boat and has been very successful.

Also there were some very interesting winged monohulls from circuit racing back in the 70's and 80's
