transom repair

I am new here and have an idea about transom repair.
Does any one think it would be possible to create a template of a transome and make a form 1.5 inches thick and create a transom with epoxy resin chop strand and a thickening agent lime cabosil. Fill the form and float and float of the top let it dry for several days andthen glass it in the boat like any other transom material....do ou think it could work

Yep, that will work, but it'll be ungodly heavy, costly as sin and a lot more work than necessary.

Pour in transom repair products already exist, with styrene based resins, which the vast majority of boat are also made of.

What is the cost/reward to this approuch?

 

I see guus pouring resin and fiberglass mix in layers in to transoms....i figured this would be a better approach as far as heat goes....maybe less work than plywood and will never have to be replaced

 

Not all transoms can take a poured in core and I'm not sure of the gurus (my assumption) you're referring to, but poured in cores have their issues too.

 

stringer question

My boat is on a bung trailer and seems well supported. Can I replace my stringers and transom while on the trailer?

 

What are the issues with pour in transoms. I realise weight is one.

 

There are several, but imagine pouring hundreds of dollars of liquid cure me, into a transom cavity, just to find you didn't notice the hole in the bottom of the inner skin, so it leaks into the bilge instead of the transom space. Now you have a cured puddle of heavy goo in the bilge and need to buy more liquid fix me in a can.
