What is the liquid that you use for your inclining tests oil trays ?
    Water ? Oil ? Gease ? Glue?
Have you used any other viscous fluid which assists in fast settling of the pendulum bobs?

As thick as possible and make sure your plumb bob has vanes too.

Back in the 70's when we did inclinings in the shipyard we used oil. I don't know the weight but it was pretty heavy stuff.

Vanes as you said are super important . without vanes it wont settle at all . Just a cylinder bob wont do .

Definitely dishwashing liquid. If you spill oil, the Chief Engineer will have a fit.

As to vanes, I have used bobs made out of a couple of slotted brass plates that form a cross when linked together. You can store them in a nice cloth holder and look very cool when you take them out and assemble them.

You can substantially thicken water by dissolving cornstarch in it.

Pan juices, plain flour, salt & white pepper.. emulsify with a fork or back of a spoon in the baking tray.
