Gday Doug, I watched it online. The viewing numbers were not high - 4700 for Gold Coast on Sunday so maybe it won't be on next year.

My idea for sailing on TV. Teams racing with slowish monos -470s - that bash into each other, no buoy room just muscle in if you can. Red team vs blue team and tight courses.

    cheers

    Phil

McKnight To Take Flight - Targeting Win and Podium Crown in Grand Final
    [IMG]

World Champion Josh McKnight is eyeing off a regatta win in the final SuperFoiler event in Sydney and knows that could thrust his team onto the series podium.

The former moth World Champion, who sails alongside London Olympic silver medallist Olivia Price and 29er World Champion Harry Morton on the Kleenmaid SuperFoiler, had his best result in Busselton – finishing third in the West Australian regatta - and believes his crew are peaking at just the right time.

It has been an astounding turnaround for the New South Wales based crew who by their own admission initially found it hard to find their groove on the world- first machines.

"We are loving the series and the concept, it has evolved even since we started the series and it's exciting to contemplate what is going to happen in future years. I think we are all looking to sign up again," said the World Champion. The Expr3ss! SuperFoiler Grand Final - Sydney
will reach its epic conclusion on Sydney Harbour across Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of March 2018.

Championship Standings following the Busselton Regatta - Euroflex (19), Tech2 (17), Pavement (16), Record Point (12), iD Intranet (11) and Kleenmaid (10).

Absolutely gorgeous sailing shots on Sydney Harbor! Huge number of other boats apparently sailing thru the SuperFoiler course?
Still amazes me to see the great frequency of the main hull contacting the water-just doesn't seem right.
    Video post 20......

Congratulations to Euroflex(Nathan Outeridge, Glen Ashby and Lucky Gilmore) for winning the first SuperFoiler Grand Prix and the Ben Lexcen Trophy!!
Yesterday was the most spectacular sailing I've seen on video at least since the last Sydney-Hobart! Check out Saturdays video......

I watched the repeats of the brusseltown event this weekend. I can't find the final (sydney) leg in the TV schedule so maybe they won't bother due to the commonwealth games.

I don't watch sport at all so the fact it held my attention for a few hours is an achievement. I think both the media and crews are doing a good job entertaining those watching on TV and the live audience.

I'm not sure I understand the main sheet system though ? It looks like it is combined with the traveler control ? That can't be right can it ?

Always nice to see any sailing on TV.

Surely one cannot expect hundreds of other sailors to stop racing for 18 sailors, just to suit the wishes of a commercial organisation and allow it to take over public water to generate private profits. The grass root clubs are the ones that create the sailors, the designers, the boatbuilders and the sport.

No one-certainly not me-would expect anyone to stop racing for the SuperFoilers. I thought the spectacle was fantastic-what a great place to sail!

I had a rumor e-mailed to me this morning: "new smaller version of the SuperFoiler to be built". Haven't seen anything about this so far..........
Be interesting if they use a small daggerboard with a lifting foil in the main hull to prevent the constant main hull touchdowns of the current boat-could allow proportionately more beam as well.
