The best bang for your buck and as far as i'm concerned is as good as anything at 10 times the cost, is good old oil based Tremclad . Advertised as Tremclad Rust Paint. I have two big old schooner anchors and chain as ocean side garden ornaments. Chipped off the loose rust and painted them with Tremclad some 15 yrs ago . Still very little sign of rust.

What ever you paint it with it will need maintainence, thats steel for you .

Chipping and cleaning now and again is what you need to do as any steel structure from a bridge to a ship,----- chip and paint.

What you have now sounds great to me.

If you see a spot , clean it up and paint with grease. If you looking for a one coat job and forget about ti I dont think there is anything
