    Hi all,

As some of you may know, I've designed and will soon be starting a build on an autonomous motor boat. I have a 1m test model (which I have no problem deciding what the best parts for it are) but the full-size boat will be 5m long and I need some advice from experienced builders as to what the best parts are for each purpose.

My boat will use 1 x 2.5kW 3.5hp motor (so won't be a speed demon) and it will also be light (500kg)

I will be using an inline rudder setup and would really appreciate it if some of you could give me your recommendations on the best servo motor(examples would be great) for the rudder as well as a good rudder setup if you know of one.

Thanks in advance. I always appreciate the recommendations and feedback on this forum.

    Mitch

At 500 kg, that is quite a heavy boat. You can buy a tiller pilot that is already built, has a warranty and is cheaper than the separate parts.

    Thanks gonzo,
I've had a look at the Tiller Pilot and it looks pretty good. I'm going to be using an arduino computer to control the boat's actions. I'm wondering if you think this would still be the cheapest option if GPS etc is being controlled elsewhere?
    Thanks again

The Tiller Pilot will accept NMEA/GPS, so you can control it remotely.
