My boat a pearson true north 38 has a tunnel-five blade 26X27 prop-440hp WL 38ftl 12.8 beam 16,000lb max speed 23K likes to run 16-18K. this may not relate to lighter smaller craft. Speed aside the tunnel may be the cause of a lack of side kick in reverse making a bow thruster important. Tracking at high and low speed is good. Wide turning radious may have nothing to do with tunnel. Reasonable fuel burn the flater angle of shaft may be contributing to this. Shallower draft. So what is your goal re. tunnel?

I'll build a small skiboat max 18 feet with a low draft different hull. It should be able to pull a skier or several. In low speed create a big wave, in high speed small wake. Top speed should be about + mid fourties mph, which should be possible with a appr 300 hp. -beside that, other differentiating qualities in the design.
