benrnd thanks for the info ! very helpful :)

The engine seem to have been neglected for some time, the owner had not used the boat in well over 6-7 month so he has been going back and forth to sort out the issues.

Sea water seemed to have reached the engine via the exhaust, salt water ingress in the engine. Engine heads changed, new oil filter, new gasket and new water pump.
I have to say the owner is exerting a lot of effort to make sure the engine is fine, so i hope for the best!

One thing worries me though, the strut holding the shaft broke and he seemed to have made a make shift repair by fitting a v bracket on the hull and the strut holding the shaft. He drilled through the hull and the whole thing is a rush patch job he was forced to do it at the time (no supplies / repair around).

I guess the strut (i hope its the right english term for the "wing" holding the shaft to the hull before the propeller) if not aligned properly might cause vibration and access transmission wear but i am not sure how i should go about repairing that.

The survey was a bust, engine was not even operational.
Clear water ingress in the engine via the exhaust, poor over all maintenance on the engine. Engine hours unknown.

    Boat no longer an option.
