The easiest way is to click on the "Choose" button in the "Attach File" section at the bottom of the post reply section. This will open a dialog box on top where you select the file from your local hard drive, you click the "open" button (depending on the OS) which selects it. And that's it - the filename will appear in that little box next to the choose button and the attachment will appear with your post.

Notes:

• You must be logged in to post an attachment.
• You can't post attachments using the quick reply function.
• .gif and .jpg images will appear inline in the message. Other formats will appear as links which people can click to open.
• If the file is on another web site, the best way is to save it to your hard drive (right click and choose saveas, and save it somewhere like c:\temp) and then attach it to your forum post as outlined above from your hard drive.
• You can also use [ img ] url:to-image [ /img ] tags (without the spaces) to pull images directly from another web site, but I prefer if people use attachments because otherwise if the other web site goes down or renames an image, it will appear as a broken image in the post here later on. (esp. if the other site is on free web space or ISP web space since people often change their connection and the free web space which went with the old disappears)
• You can't add an attachment by editing - you must post a new reply (or a new post) to add an attachment. You can change an attachment by editing, but only if one was originally posted. This will change in the future.

 

And you are also always welcome to post some images in the gallery which works very similarly to the forum. If you visit the gallery using the subdomain (gallery.boatdesign.net instead of boatdesign.net/gallery) you might have to login to the gallery initially but the login should hold after that.

 

Jeff, since you know how, what do you do to take "Screen shots"?? I at a time knew.....

 

On a Windows system, you can simply hit the "print screen" button on the keyboard and it will take a screen shot and copy it to the clipboard from which you can then paste into an image editing program to save for the web as a .gif or .jpg. If you hold down the Alt key while hitting Print Screen on the keyboard, it will take a screenshot of just the active window rather than the whole screen.
