Our guest speaker for the 16th of October meeting is Sean Langman. A veteran of many Sydney to Hobart campaigns and the recent purchaser of the ORMA 60 Team Australia (Formally Banque Populaire IV) which has set a new record for the Brisbane to Gladstone race. Visitors are welcome just use the intercom at the door when you arrive and mention that you are there for the MYCV meeting. Take lots of coin for the ticket parking it's quite expensive per hour last time I had to wing it as I ran out of coin luckily no fine.

I have to say Sean was one of the most interesting speakers we have had. He talked about his time sailing monos and his love of all boats. Interesting things to note a Wot Rocket Mk2 is on the cards a lot was learnt from the last project the next version will again be a kind of foiling pacific proa but with much better and more simple control systems. Loves his new/old ORMA60 was surprised at what a sweet boat it is to sail with clever sail controls and intelligent and ergonomic gear placement, well balanced and obviously very fast.

Possibility of a multihull division in Sydney to Hobart was discussed general opinion from CYCA was a viable division would require 5 boats equipped to an appropriate safety standard for the race which seems reasonable, one MYCV member with a 46' Chris White cat has put his hand up to compete. Sean discussed his concepts for a canting deck monohull, pretty interesting but after experiencing the ORMA thinks that the multihull concept probably works better.

After the AGM we have a new Commodore and our treasurer and secretary positions have been filled with worthy candidates.
