    Hello to everyone ,

I´m looking for a way to convert my Maxsurf .IGES hull , into an editable surface in Solidworks (with control points) , without having to reloft a hull from Maxsurf sections .

Is this possible ? Is there a way for solidworks to recognise and edit an .IGES hull surface ?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated ... and a possible suicide averted .

I don't know a direct method, but I'll tell you what I do, hope it helps:

1- Import the Iges surface and repair it
2- Cross it with an array of work planes (as sections or waterlines)
3- Use Curve->Partition Lines to capture the intersections between the iges surface and your set of planes
4- Convert each partition line and each edge to a 3d sketch
5- Use the Boundary Surface command to reconstruct the surface wich now is controlled by your 3dsketches.
6- Hide the original Iges surface

If you're modelling a simple hull, it will take just minutes. If you're trying to deal with a complex set of iges surfaces all at the same time, then you're fry:D
