ISO 11591: Field of vision from helm position (RIB Query)

    Hi,

    I am hopeful that someone will be good enough to share their expertise on this one.

    We operate a small fleet of recently purchased 7.8m DELTA RIBs. Visibility at the helm while under plane appears to comply with the standard, naturally however when the vessels is traveling slowly or coming to a stop it does not. Does the standard account for this situation or must the vessel comply at all times. Are their any specific exemptions?

    Any help would be very welcome.

    I don't profess to be an expert. My reading of the laws is that the operator must be able to change positions during such times. My knowledge is very crude; you will get better answers.

    It is my understanding in a situation with bow rise that interferes with navigation that the operator would stand (assuming doing so is an improvement).
