Electric and Freshwater Systems

Hey everyone,

My father and I are nearing the back half of our project, building a 32 foot catamaran designed by John Shuttleworth. I have very little idea about how to completely wire the boat for electrical and piping for freshwater systems.

Here are some of the basics that I know I will have and need:
2 - 9.9 HP Honda outboard engines
Solar panels
battery bank (internal power and engine starting)
typical navigation instruments
shore power connection
water pumps
internal and external lighting


I have a basic diagram that I've drawn attached so I know where to plan for running piping and electrical conduit. Can anyone help me with a resource that I can use to figure all of this out?

 

So you know what you want and where you want it.
Now you must fill in the details that will determine the amount and size of the wiring.

Some examples:
Will the freshwater system be pressurized or do you install faucets with switches ? A switched system requires much more wiring but avoids flooding from a leak.
What purpose has the shore power connector? Just to keep the battery topped up or do you plan any AC appliances?
Are there any high current DC devices like winches?
Will there be a fixed fuel tank or two portables?

Are you going to install everything yourself and do you have some experience?
