This video is just incredible! I'm going Tri-Crazy over here. I want one so bad. It only costs $55k. That's not that unreasonable! And Doug, Yes, it definitely could use some lifting foils.

Great Footage, you don't usually see good high speed clips.

I want one, now I need a lake house, and a lottery win.

That thing is hauling *** without too much breeze either. cool boat but ive got to agree with jetboy, the F22 is a lot better value and still plenty quick.

There was an interesting article on letelgramme today discussing future development paths for the DIAM24 it made interesting reading I thought. There is also another photo of Macif's DIAM 24 development boat attached to the article.

Here is the rough google translate:

    JOURNAL OF THE DAY

    January 18, 2016 at 8:32 / Philippe Elies / 

The Sailing Tour of trimarans are not equipped with foils. Yet last Friday in the Bay of Port-la-Forêt, Explanations of Durier Jean-Baptiste, director of the Tour.

We saw a 24 Diam foils equipped with François Gabart, Vincent Riou and Guillaume Le Brec on board. Is it tests for a possible modification of the boat?
There is no secret about that. François Gabart bought a diameter to be used as a laboratory for his maxi-trimaran Macif (editor's note: which itself is equipped with foils). It is used to test several types of foils. He bought a classic Diam 24 with two additional floats in order to perform tests.

So there is no change on the horizon?

We are very satisfied with the Diam 24. I think, late February and early March, the site (1) will deliver its 60th order. It works very well. For the rest, let's say we look François Gabart to fly and maybe kick after ... One gets no pressure, we have no planning, but we said: "In a few years, can we have a version of this boat with foils? ". We saw that it was a small bomb with foils. So it calls.

A Diam 24 driving is tomorrow?

There is no date stopped. It's played in several years. It should first be it economically viable. Much of the success of the Tour and that boat is the economic situation, the fact that it costs 55,000 euros. A flying solution with foils and some reinforcements to right and left, that means 25,000 or 30,000 euros more. I repeat, it would have to be playable economically speaking, of about 15,000 euros more. But let's be clear, we are not at all in the testing stages for the Tour de France. There are sailors as François Gabart, Vincent Riou and others having fun to see what we can do. Say they do under our benevolent eye.

Everyone wants to fly or flies today. Can the Tour de France to escape this trend?
This is the sense of history so there is no reason that the Tour does not inscribe one day in this trend. I do not see why the Tour would not go and if it can be done with the Diam 24, it would make sense.

Foils tomorrow and a rigid wing after tomorrow?

The wing is another subject. This is both a budgetary issue and logistical problems. Our size requires frequent assembly and disassembly, transport so it would mean a removable wing that ships quickly. The Tour de France is not the America's Cup. We leave it to them to make development and research. We, we follow the trend. But all this is quite exciting.

Interesting that they're testing a surface piercing foil and an uptip foil...

To me the Diam24 looks less submarine with experimental foils.
But it was just a few photos. Hope for a video.
