    Hey, all...

I need a quick ballpark price for a thin fiberglass layup. I'm looking for a ballpark square foot price for a layup without any fancy gelcoats or finishes, just a layup with a tight cloth near the surface and a strong second cloth with another tight finish cloth on the interior. I’ll work out the glass engineering later.

I'm thinking of building fiberglass forms for residential concrete construction and the light weight of the fiberglass and the ability to make curved molds are what I'm looking for. The forms would be 3 feet or one meter wide and 6 feet or 2 meters long. There are a dozen different forms needed. The forms would need to be reinforced with structural elements on the back in which to attaché the forms to each other and to stand on their own. This is for a precast yard and not for on-site construction.

Are there any boat builders that would be up for making the fiberglass forms for me if I provide the wooden plugs?

I'd have to engineer the glass to ensure the strength that I need, but first I need to have an idea if this would be economical. Any help with the basic original cost for material and labor (hourly average) would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jed

Our tooling costs vary between $A 50 & $3000 per metre2 depending on finish & complexity.Regards from Jeff.

Come on with all the builders here in this forum this is the only reply!
I cannot beleve that there is no one needing work and/or money!

I need some idea of the current cost of materials and labor for a simple layup of 24 square meters of glass (commerical application). Anyone? I don't want to base my cost on the material found at the local boat and marine supply house.

    Thanks in advance...
