Collision in/near Venezuelan waters

    Well, if the venezuelans really want it that cruiseship never leaves Curaçao again, except for going to Venezuela (unless Trump gives them an escort that is).
    As to why they did not use the main gun like any normal warship to force them to do what they wanted, we will probably never know.

    can't help another Top Gun reference......His ego is writing checks his body can't cash.

    Could be he was ordered to do that by political officers on shore who had seen little tugboats pushing big ships around. I think it could've sorta worked, if the ship hadn't tried an emergency stop/reverse which let the boat get in front of the ship's bow.

    Just a thought - maybe the Venezuelans were hoping that the cruise ship would rescue them, and that this could be their way of bailing out and claiming refugee status in a foreign country?

    Not every time. The US has made pacts with several countries about the right to inspect each others vessels about anywhere. I think with some Latin-American countries and some NATO allies are in this category, maybe some others too. Anyway not all vessels on high seas..
