Most everything I am about to say is "Assumed" and I am not doing it, I just want to know. On mono hulls the fuel tank is placed low to maintain a lower center of balance?? So, on a catamaran could you put the tanks higher? Let's say the hulls were 5 feet tall with a 1 foot draft, and to keep it simple this catamaran has a flat deck like a pontoon boat. If you had 2 fuel tanks that were long, narrow, and tall. Could you place them in the hulls with the tops flush with, or a little above deck to avoid filler tubes to get gas to the tanks and also eliminate fumes? I'm sure he top would have a cover over it to raise when fueling. Is this the way it is done? Am I way off and lost my mind? Living in the desert, I don't get many chances to see catamarans so I have no experience like most of you guys so give this ole desert rat a break and help me out before I strain my brain.

Is this a power cat or sailing? Yes you can do that. Obviously there has to be some sort of structure to mount the tanks on. But one in each hull spreads the weight to the sides. This compensates for them being a little higher than normal. But I wouldn't extend them above deck. Too exposed to damage. You do need a short filler tube and a vent.

Thanks Ike, I can no longer do any work as Degenerative Spine, and two fractured vertebrae stopped me from doing most things. I do spend many hours planning a boat I'll never build, and aggravate a few members with my questions.

My boat would be an outboard powered catamaran between 7 and 10 meters. I like parts of many designs and it would have features from quite a few.

    Thanks again
