    Can a point load be applied on a ship by NAPA software(The loading direction of point load is vertically upward)?
    Could NAPA software be used freely?

    Point loads can be applied to any FEA model. However caution must be used.

    Mathematically we can write is as: F(x) = [x-a]^n. But when n = -1, which is a point load or singulairty it becomes:

    F(x) = [1/(x-a)] => when x not = a F(x)=> 0, but when x = a (point load) F(x) = infinity.

    In other words you get an infinite stress at that point. Therefore you must learn how to mesh in way of point loads, as well as learn how to apply point loads into an FEM without creating such high stress gradients which affects the results.
