I was wandering around the yard waiting for my bottom paint to dry the other day and I stumbled across this approx 40' full keel sail boat. Hull ID starts with MRY.... What struck me was just above the prop, above the waterline is a 4" tube, that runs from side to side. Seems way overkill if it is a drain of some sort.

Anybody know the manufacturer and purpose?

MRY is Catalina Yachts (the old Morgan MIC I think). Without a picture, who knows what someone has done to their yacht. I suspect it's a cockpit drain. I doubt the tube runs side to side, but rather it's a cross drain, where the starboard scupper in the cockpit, drains to port, with the port side scupper doing the opposite. In this size range, there are a lot of choices from Catalina/Morgan, so who knows which boat to narrow down the search, though a cockpit scupper is very likely.
