When Banque Populaire 5 clocked a steady 40 plus knots setting a new Atlantic record - I think they were close to pedal/metal maximum then, Silver Raven - didn't they reach 46 Knots?
However updated and lightened Hydroptere for the upcoming Pacific record attempt ... that true flyer, would go okay at Douananez in 15 knots wind - maybe 20 would be better.
Interesting that in Doug's posting of the same Course au Large piece, over at Sailing Anarchy, has got some of the kiters over there a little defensive - multihulls setting faster speeds in open water and not in an artificial trench. Whoops! Okay, blaze away.

Looks like their peak speed in the Atlantic record was 47.15 knots. They also set a new 24 hour record of 907nm in a 24 hour period averaging 37.79 knots for 24 hours it makes you think that 1000nm is within reach given the right conditions.

Amazing, isn't it? Some kiters and windsurfers have lost track of where their
    records were actually set.......
