If you have followed the last race, which has had plenty of tacks and jibes, at some point you could hear the almost painful grinders' moans and groans. It was very clear that they were pushed to the limit of their strength and endurance.

I guess that Grant Dalton has realized that, now that races have become so tight and physically-demanding, his 56 years no longer allow him to give what this battle requires. That is imo the reason why he is not on the boat anymore.

In the early races, I thought that NZ's boat got up on foils faster
than Oracle's boat, and it seemed more stable.
In the last few races the opposite seems to be true.

I suspect that NZ would also like to know what modifications Oracle
has made, and what foil sizes it chose for each race. For that reason
I doubt we will know until after the regatta. If Oracle win, and
similar boats will be used for the next AC, we may never find out.

Those who predict that this is the last time we see these amazing boats, I sincerely hope they are wrong.
I've said this before - I don't care much for the LV Cup, number of challengers, or any other 'feeder ragattas', as long as we have two billionaire funded teams who can produce this type of racing in this format (challenger vs defender), I'm all in as a spectator.
I'd prefer to see NZ win for a variety of reasons, but would also like to be sure that RC/LE's vision of media-friendly sailing continues.
I don't think all the critics of this AC can have much to say right now, except "we were wrong.."

Spectacular start for Oracle!! 2boatlength penalty to the Kiwi's--maybe even a second one(confirmed 2 penalties!!!) when they drifted back into Oracle! Unbelievable! USA= 400 m lead after just a few minutes...

    Go Team USA!!!!

    YOU teach OUR Aussies ??????

Come off it - you needed to HIRE an Aussie to Win. The US has nothing to teach downunder sailors. :D

Ken Read and his co-comentator talking about Oracle would have just won the AC if they hadn't been docked 2 points by the jury.
They used the terms "rule abuses" and "infractions deemed illegal"
Why is it so hard for US commentators to say "our team cheated, if they hadn't they would now have won the AC "
Jimmy Spithill can say " Farkin Hell" live on TV, but no-one can say "cheat" as it has become a swearword in USA..

    That is too funny..
The thing that made me take note of the way they versed it, is that Ken Read actually stuttered and fumbled his words, before coming up with his politically correct definition of the word "cheating"..

Glen Ashby has won how many catamaran world championships ?
Perhaps time to put Dean Barker on wing trim.. And Gashby on helm.

OK, looks ;like NZ have gotten a good start.

If they muff this race, they will never live it down from Aussies :)
