2610 Sailboat

Trying get some feed back, good or bad, as long as it is constructive feedback!

My interpretation of a 26' X 10' Motorsailer. Draft keel down 6.5' keel up 2.5'. Displacement 6 500-7000 lbs. Keel bulb 1300 lbs, Keel plate 1 700 lbs, total keel = 3000 lbs. Sail area 375 sq. ft. It is a center cockpit open concept. The galley will be in the open cockpit area. In the forward cabin at the bow will be the head with shower, right behind will be a pullman double berth with a large dresser closet. The aft cabin will be a double berth. Basically the living area will be in the large center cockpit area with a dimension of 7' X 9' approximately.

I know the engine is not yet decided! Still debating inboard or outboard! Power will most likely 15-25 HP. Anybody have experience with Hatz aircooled diesel engine the D-serie with the silent pack?

 

Off hand, I would say it looks like it will be more sea worthy than sea kindly. The heavy keel bulb and the short, deep keel, combined with the wide beam and shallow hull, may not be a comfortable marriage in any kind of seaway. It could have a brutal snap-roll, which may cause you to toss your cookies.

But that same bulb held deep, as long as the rest of the keel is strong enough, along with the high sides, will almost certainly guarantee a generous amount of reserve stability.

 

Thanks for the comments. I think you are exactly right that it should be a stiff sailboat! Wide hard bildge hull and a pretty heavy deep keel! Hope the upwind capability would be descent with the high hull side and hard top roof design. The design seams to make enought sense to me to start a scale model 1/10th to see how it would feel in the water.
