We worked these simple, cheap little boats over to make them sail to Australian standards. And we are releasing a comprehensive plan Easy to sail, quick to build, simple to rig. Hull weight 65lbs Sail area 82 sq ft There is more information about this project on my website. http://members.ozemail.com.au/`storerm Also much information about modern timber boat construction including FAQs etc

Link is now transformed into a website http://www.pdracer.info and the boat is renamed the Oz Racer.

There are two versions ... both cheap and simple to build with excellent performance because of detail design of foils, mast/sail combo etc

Original Oz Racer Mk2 - set up with centrecase and most comfortable singlehanding.

OzRacer RV - has big open cockpit - good for one or two crew.

We built a few of these boats at 12ft and found the performance was so much better.

And we are getting a lot of new people into the club as well as general sailing.

They can carry three adults and sail well. But solo they have regular upwind speeds of around 5 knots and downwind with much wind around 10 to 14 knots. Peak has been 18 knots for a couple of seconds.
