    Roving VS non-woven Biax

Well this is a sandwich configuration, so not so much. I was thinking non-woven had better mechanical properties than woven roving, but if they both are made of e-glass they would probably be similar in tensile/compression/stretch properties... How ever in a laminate non-woven would perform...

    Roving VS non-woven Biax

I wonder if there is a conversion rate to get from a roving to multiaxial stiched-biax in terms of weight or thickness. I have calculated scantlings for roving but want to use AMT. AMT should give similar properties with less weight/thickness Thanks for any help on this.

Direction of stitched glass fiber laminate?

I am not sure about the performance. Calculations on a semi-displacement with a new hull design is kind of a blank paper. Not much theory on this subject that I can find atm. - Still searching though. I have doen some analysis in Orca but it does not handle multihulls well. Neither semi...

Direction of stitched glass fiber laminate?

I am designing a 13 m semidesplacement power offshore catamaran. I am to provide sandwich construction advice and need some input on fiber direction. In the hull sides it will be biaxial but which direction? +-45 or 0/90 and why? Direction in bulkheads, longitudals and transom if you have...

    Fiberglass hand layup help

You do it part by part, not the entire area at once. Of course you should know the working window of your glue(vinylester). Anyways you typical start with one layer of ccm and you wet one of the 1/2 sides of V bottom. The wetted surfdace should be as long as the with of the fiber You cut the...
