I stand corrected. Sorry for the duplicate post info. New pictures though...

    Home built foiling tri

I thought I posted pics or videos about this before, but I don't see any threads specifically related to it. Anyway, I built a 20' copy of the 1990's prototype of L'Hydroptere a few years ago. It worked pretty well, but you had to weight shift to trim it fore-aft and side to side. Pretty fun...

    Non-foiling trimarans under 20'

I totally agree. I've owned a Windrider 17 and 16. They get moving OK, but then you realize they're pigs. Very slow to windward. The foot steering is awful too.

Extend Rudders on 10metre sailing catamaran

Total Boat WetEdge paint. Both boards aren't in the water when not in use.

Extend Rudders on 10metre sailing catamaran

Here's a pic of lengthening both the daggerboard and a rudder for my hydrofoil trimaran. I tapered the bottom ends of both, made divinycell cores for each extension and glued them on with wood flour-thickened epoxy. Then laminated on heavy unidirectional carbon first, followed by other layers of...

SeaRider 360 (Need help with Rigging)

That's a sliding mast track typically used for windsurfing long boards. It takes a proprietary mast foot that plugs into it. Looks like a vintage Mistral brand track. The mast feet can be hard to find. Do you have one? Looks like you do based on the rig being set up. I think your shrouds for the...

    Self tacking jib system question

My friend also let me do some TIG welding on the brackets that support the track. First time for me. I fillet braze steel bike frames with brass, and it's somewhat similar. Here's a pic of my arc template before bending the track, and the system now with safety tennis balls and (yellow) line to...

    Self tacking jib system question

Even with the jib sheet (line forward to bow) taught, the car runs smoothly from end to end on the track with little friction. That track is actually the mainsheet traveler to the Supercat 20 who's hull I'm using for the vaka. It's 6 feet long. I made a giant square and determined the imaginary...

    Self tacking jib system question

OK, I'm going with 2 lines. Not sure which one would be called the sheet, but there will be the forward-routed one shown in my pics above (jib sheet per upchurchmr's post), and the one that pulls the traveler car closer to the CL. Both lines will be routed though the space below the mast. The...

    Self tacking jib system question

I did some tests based on what kapnD said, and that seems to work optimally. The first thing sheeting in does is to pull the clew of the jib to the car, then the car moves closer to the centerline. Once you sheet out so the car is at the end of the track, the sheet pays out normally for going...

    Self tacking jib system question

Maybe this isn't strictly related to multihulls, but it's on my trimaran so I'm posting in this forum. Someone suggested I convert my jib to be self-tacking after watching this video of my newly-built boat: I did some research and concocted a hybrid between Harken's Standard Self-Tacker with...

Aka attachments to Nacra 5.2 hulls as amas

Good advice on tacking. Will try it next time I'm out. I really don't intend to fly the main hull. Too scary for me. Don't know what the boat weighs, but a Supercat 20 weighs 45o lbs. and a Nacra 5.2 weighs 350 lbs. Probably close to 450. Looking forward to sailing it with a friend who can...

Aka attachments to Nacra 5.2 hulls as amas

I took the boat out a second time. Gopro video here: Similar conditions to the first time. In the end, a bolt rope on one of my tramps pulled out of its track on the vaka. I've since ordered more slug slides from sailrite to fit into the tracks and have re-sewn my tramps to use a sleeve and...
