Johan van Dijk

Hi my name is Johan van Dijk. As a profesional mariner I always wave ideas how to improve the design of ships and boats. It started with layouts of boats but through the years I started to build up my knowledge about hull design. this all from the perspective of a user.
My aim is to produce a concept plan in which details specific for the design are worked out.
I do not have the acces to, nor the knowledge to use modern 3D design tools. I start with a sketch that I translate into a rough boat model. This model is my 3D image wich I can even test in the water to see if the design lives up to my expectation. When I am finally happy with the design I write a detailed concept plan.
Through the years I shifted my focus from fishing vessels towards bigger commercial craft. but over the last 5 years I concentrate more on recreational craft. Hereby I try to specialize on concepts of displacement boats, mainly versatile craft between 30 and 100 feet Where I have a strong focus on lower carbon footprints.
