Catamaran hull volume distribution, impact on seakeeping?

How does the hull volume distribution in catamaran hulls affect seakeeping?

 

In so many ways, I will let someone knowledge chime in for more info. As much as I know low volume or pointy sterns (Wharram) are more prone to pitching/hobby horsing upwind, carry less weight and by some (but not all) is considered safer in big seas downwind, albeit slower. Fatter sterns carry more weight, can surf more easily but if the bows are not balanced volume wise can be pitchpoling risk in big wind and seas..

 

It can be significant....especially when you take into consideration - speed of the hull.

But like the things....it all depends... what you're comparing.

 

There are many parameters that will affect the effect of the volume distribution in different ways. For example, power or sail cat, target speed (displacement or planing mode will give different answers), prismatic coefficient, vertical or slanted bow, flare of sides, etc.

 

parameters or variables?. I can get a clear idea of the variables involved, but I am not so clear about the parameters.
